About Us

Dr. Josh Zumstein is different than most chiropractors. He has written a professionally endorsed book, Secrets to Preventing Back and Neck Pain: 60 Ways to Protect Your Spine, and does in-house corporate chiropractic. He has a master’s degree in sports rehab, certifications in acupuncture, applied kinesiology and Webster Technique for pregnant mothers. He is also McKenzie trained. As a result, Dr. Zumstein uses several treatment options in conjunction with chiropractic to find out what works best for you. You will not just be adjusted and sent on your way.

After dedicating time to promote his book and consulting services, Dr. Zumstein opened Back Safety & Wellness Center in 2014 so he could return to his true love: chiropractic. As a licensed doctor of chiropractic, Dr. Zumstein combines patient education, lifestyle modifications and at-home exercises with chiropractic care to increase your chances of a full recovery and future well-being.

Dr. Zumstein currently performs corporate wellness programs, has worked with and treated Division I collegiate and professional athletes and has spent endless hours researching his passion: eliminating back and neck pain. He has been featured on National Public Radio, WGN-TV, NBC and FOX.

Dr. Zumstein grew up in Homewood, and is a graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Marquette University and Logan College of Chiropractic. He currently resides in Northwest Indiana with his wife, Michelle, and two daughters.

Dr. Edginton has been in practice since graduating from The National University of Health Sciences in 2001. He has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the National College of Chiropractic. He is certified in MDT, more commonly known as the McKenzie Method. In October 2014 he was accredited by the federal government as a Registered Medical Examiner for the Department of Transportation.

Since graduating from Chiropractic school, Dr. Chris has worked in a mix of hospital settings, in private practice alongside medical colleagues, and in Chiropractic clinics with Physical Therapy services. This variety has lent itself to a wide variety of patient experiences and conditions treated, from sports injuries to chronic aches and pains to spinal disc herniations.

With his additional training in Acupuncture and Athletic Taping protocols, and his experience with a multi-disciplinary approach, Dr. Chris' treatment is customized to the patient and presentation. While the Chiropractic adjustment remains the most integral part of a patient’s treatment, ancillary treatments over and above the adjustment get his patients better, quicker.

Dr. Chris has been a Chiropractic patient himself since high school. Suffering from childhood asthma and allergies, he started seeing Dr. George Moore for chiropractic adjustments as a teenager. Along with diet modifications and regular Chiropractic adjustments, the asthma and allergies resolved. Dr. Chris remains inspired by Dr. Moore's enthusiasm for Chiropractic and emulates this passion towards healing in his own practice. In his free time, Dr. Chris enjoys spending time with his wife – also a Chiropractor – and two young children, playing guitar with his band, and exercising. He believes himself to be very funny.

Did You Know?

Chiropractors are licensed physicians in the state of Illinois.

We were voted Best of Chicago's Southland in 2018:

Chiropractors must undergo four years of post-graduate schooling and a chiropractic residency before earning their doctorate.

Chiropractors undergo the same amount of classroom training as M.D.'s. A major difference in schooling is that while M.D.'s learn their pharmacology training, chiropractors learn their technique training.
